J is for . . . JINX! HA! . . . Gottcha!
I've decided that when you just get mentally exhausted you revert back to the happy times . . . more specifically, lately . . . life as a middle schooler.
As my lab partners and I were finishing up our second 2-hour physics lab for the week, we were working through some final questions, and the two of them said something at the at the exact same time.
One of them shouted, "JINX!" which, at least personally, is still an automatic response for such a situation, right? So we all chuckled and proceeded on to the next task in the lab. It wasn't for a couple minutes later until I noticed that the other of my partners hadn't said a word for the last bit. We were making predictions about the infinitely important obervation of the gravitational behavior of a falling spool of thread, and I asked him for his thoughts.
"Whaddaya think, Isaac?"
*a shrug and a complacent stare*
"Well, don't you have a guess?"
*a nod*
"Umm . . . would you mind sharing?"
*bulging eyes, and an index finger, pointed toward his pursed lips*
A bit confused, I looked at Brynna, who was just as baffled initially, but sooned blurted, "Wait! Oh! I jinxed him!" We then racked our brains to remember the recipe for un-jinxification so we could have Isaac back. After a couple moments of fruitless memory-search, our temporarily-dumb friend rolled his eyes, grabbed a pencil and scribbled, "name, name, name" in the margin of our lab worksheet, and pointed his finger back at himself. With a simultaneous "oooOOOoooh" from the both of us, (kinda ironic, come to think of it . . .) we released our friend from the delightfully elementary curse and continued on with our study of torque and rotational dynamics of rigid objects.
Life isn't so bad :)
