G is for Paintballing
Okay, maybe it's not . . . but humor me ;)
So today was my first time paintballing . . . ever! And I'll have to say it was pretty much amazing. I went with a bunch from Pine Ridgers for their yearly trip up to Battle Creek to pummel each other with little balls of wet and colorful goodness. To tell the truth, I had my doubts about the whole day at first. For one, we were scheduled to leave the church at 8 am . . . and the church is about 25 minutes from campus . . . yeah. Second, I had never played before, and I was worried that I would make a complete fool of myself. And third . . . it started to snow/sleet on the way up there, leaving the ground in a muddy, mushy state of existance.
All my fears were relieved, however, the moment I shot a paintball gun for the first time . . . mm-hmm ;) We played several rounds during the course of the day, sometimes church against church (we were there with a Free Methodist Church group), sometimes adult against kids (I counted as an adult! . . . although we were at a slight disadvantage with a 11:40 ratio), sometimes playing capture-the-flag, defend-the-castle, or good ol' eliminitation where the last man standing wins :) Seriously, I can't express how much fun this provided today.
But it did make me think of how there are SO many men and women in our military who find/have in the past found themselves in the line of fire, where the consequences of meeting with a projectile are more that just a blotch of bright-orange paint on their camo. THANK YOU to all our veterans who sacrifice so much of themselves so that we can find ourselves in a place where we can even have the choice to spend the entire morning pelting each other with paint. If you get the chance, give a veteran a hug. Just 10 days until I can give one to mine :) I love you, Daddy!
Tonight was also the Black and White ball, hosted by the Student Activities Board. Well done, SAB! In my opinion, t'was a great success :) Well, happy Sunday, all.
. . . and thank you for humoring me. I thoroughly appreciate it ;)
