E is for Ethanol

Today, I spent the entire afternoon distilling my own alcohol from frozen corn.

Don't worry mom, I was supervised by a group of TA's---being that it was the latest procedure for my Organic Chem lab--- (and, after 3 hours, we each had come up with a whopping total of approx. 2.5 mLs . . .) It was really great, though! I'd have to put it on my list of top 3 fave labs of the year . . . although I have no idea what the other 2 would be . . .

Oh, well. I'm enjoying myself enough. AND I've heard that, for our last lab of the year, we get to synthesize dye and tie-dye our lab coats :)

That is . . . if we survive that long . . .
